Wanted: Skyraider loss report 1964

Sat Mar 07, 2015 2:21 pm

There is a family member seeking info on the loss of Capt Richard Goss in A-1E 52-132465 on 29 Aug 1964 near Bien Hoa AB in Vietnam. Capt Goss likely holds the unfortunate place of being the first USAF Skyraider airframe/pilot lost in Vietnam.

Any photos of this A-1, accident reports, and/or declassified history would be much appreciated and will be passed on to his family.

Respectfully,
Ken

Ken,

I'd suggest getting ahold of Craig Fuller at AAIR for a copy of the accident report.

Ken, 132465 doesn't show up in my photo database, so it's a pretty safe bet that no identifiable photo of it has been published in any common source.

At that time, it would almost certainly have looked similar or identical to the other early USAF A-1Es. As you know, they were pretty uniform at that time, differing only in serial number, cowl number (if any), and ADF color.

Might be out of Craig's date range.

Best bet is for the family to submit a FOIA request for the accident report to the USAF Safety Center at
