This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Does anyone know if the AM-1 will be made airworthy for its move? If so, I hope its very well documented. To me, this would be the warbird story of the year.

The last word that I heard in November was that the Mauler will be trucked over to Madras for display in the new museum. I'm in Florida at the moment, but I'll be back in Oregon in April. I seriously doubt that the plan has changed, but the airplane may be in Madras by that time. When I get back home, I'll post whatever I find out once I'm sure of the accuracy of the information.

Thanks very much, Larry. I look forward to your information when you get back to Oregon.

I believe it has even trucked over to Madras.

Yes, although there isn't much there currently. Mini Guppy, F-14, A-7 to name a few. An employee said they intend to remain open and are planning on adding airframes.

I wondered about some of the USN stuff and what would happen to them as I couldn't imagine them being trucked to Madras.
That building is simply too cool to close to the public.
And if you ever go there, stand just inside the main door and look straight up to the top edge. Someone hung a basketball hoop way up there.

I've always wonder how the heck they even got it that high...

Nice photos. I love how well lit the museum is.

"If" it was restored to flight, how complete is it? Are all the flight control innards still intact?, is the cockpit complete?, are hydraulics still in place? Externally she looks complete but its the "guts" of an airplane that would make it viable. Nice pix by the way and thanks.

It was pretty complete when NEAM rescued it from Aberdeen back in the 1970's. Unless there is some serious corrosion to the main structure, with enough cash, it could be made airworthy.

At NEAM "OUTSIDE"
Who is that......

Larry - Thank you very much for following up with the pictures. And most of all, thank goodness you are okay health-wise.
Do you know why the Mauler is no longer on their website listing of museum aircraft? Other statics such as the P-39 are on there, so the list is not just the flyable aircraft.
I hope the rumor of returning it to airworthy is true and occurs as soon as possible. That beast needs to be back in the air where she belongs.
