I have had this 500 piece puzzle since I was 6 and recently dug it out of my old closet at my dads place.
I would be interested in knowing if this is an actual combat scheme or fictional? I know Mike Bertz's Mustang used to have these codes. One of these days I'm going to put it back together and then frame it.
Thanks.

Richard, The artist is JB Deneen (James Bennett) 1930-2012, check out his WW1 & 2 aircraft paintings/prints, he also did a cool print of Clint Eastwood. I have a small collection of his warbird prints, Older Air Classics reprinted lots of his work in the '60s & '70s. I love that puzzle Steve! Does it say what age for ?

I might have trouble with it...Thanks for posting it, Tony

Sure, Steve & Richard, Anyone know if a current P-51D is in those markings? It would be a really cool thing to see it around today! Speaking of P-51Ds I guess with today's P.C, no present owner will paint their Mu$tang in the markings of "Big Dick", another really cool, REAL Mustang markings, too bad for us,

just my 2 pennies...cheers, gents

Thanks again Steve, I feared I was loosing it! I thought I've seen those markings in color somewhere before! Well that settles it! If I win the lotto, I getting 3 Mustang Ds & bring back:"WD KK"," Passion Wagon", & "Big Dick" !

you solved a puzzlement for me too! for years i have been looking my eyeballs out for the 2 me-109s taking off, which i also got at the USAFM back in the mid-70's. once i saw the P-51 puzzle i knew right away, that this was my man! easily recognized art style. i let the old one get away from me. i may pick it up again someday....
