Seversky F6N-3 "Sea Axe" ...

The prototype of the F6N first flew in the Spring of 1942. Deliveries of the F6N-3 “Sea Axe” to East Coast U.S.Navy squadrons began in January of 1943. Lend-Lease deliveries to the R.N. Air Arm as the "Muscovey I" began shortly thereafter. The USS Yorktown was the first carrier to be equipped with the new Seversky fighter during her 1943 shakedown cruise. This is a model of an aircraft assigned to VF-1 “High Hats” aboard the Yorktown during “The Great Marianas Turkey Shoot.” White 30 was badly damaged and upon returning was stripped and pushed over the side.

Actual photos are extremely rare, but I'll find some. I know their out there.

Wow - never mind the controversy - I am impressed with the modeling skills someone has on such a small scale! Has to be scratch built as well.

I like the term water jug. never new the navy tested some for carrier duty. it's sheer weight must have been a negative factor as to why it was rejected. would love to see the test results!!

The Luftwaffe's idea was to go with a camo scheme something on the lines of this photo below on their new "messerbishi's" ... but decided to stick with their more traditional schemes such as the model displays ...
