From what I could see it was a 7.62 minigun on a Sea King. On that guess, I googled that up and lo and behold, the TAT-102 minigun. Apparently "TAT" stands for "Tactical Armament Turret". It seems these were used on CH-53s as well.

That's a great detailed photo. Never knew Sea Kings could carry such a thing.

Apparently they were proven not to be too useful. Too difficult to aim etc.

Used by HC-7 on their SeaKings on Combat SAR missions in Viet Nam, but not for long as Mark stated.

Also notice how the plane behind it seems to have already had its wing dihedral changed. I wonder if Miss Hap (B-25 40-2168) would have had that tail gun setup originally?
