2014 National Cherry Festival (Michigan)

Fri Jul 04, 2014 4:11 pm

I went down to take a few pics this morning. Here is a bit of a tease. Hope to go back tomorrow with a different lens, more planes and less folks. We'll see if it works out.....

Neato! The T-birds are also in Michigan today, here in Battle Creek. I just watched them from my front yard..a few of their maneuvers take them right over our house at treetop level. Unfortunately I'm working this weekend so I won't be able to get to the airshow.

Great pics. Nice option of green or polished gear doors!

As I understood it, the same guy owns all of them and has a few other planes (Spitfire?) in inventory. That was 2nd-3rd hand so take it for what it's worth.

"Traverse City" on the helicopter gave me quite a start for a minute there. I'd never heard of the place--had to google it. I thought at first the chopper owner was a Warren Zevon fan!

Very nice show. The Mustang act seemed very well flown. Hope to get into the city next year!

Traverse City has a bit of a top secret WWII history with early testing of unmanned aircraft (early drones) landing on an aircraft carrier parked in the bay.

The show in Traverse City is one of the most under-rated shows in the U.S., in my opinion. Glad to see someone else with a camera was up there.

Mustangs, Raptors, and Hornets weren't the only ones cleared to takeoff...

Heritage Flight break on Friday. Anyone have any idea why there was only one Mustang in the formation on Saturday?

Nope. I live here and get to see/do some good stuff. (Hunting, fishing, etc)

I like the "mutt takeoff". :supz:

You need to get out more, :) or read more about USCG helicopter operations. It seems to be their main base for the western Great Lakes.

A pretty area, when I was stationed in Dayton, we took the Miata up there for a long weekend. I've been meaning to go back sometime.
