Sad News: John Kerr Gone West

I know that many of you conversed and knew John Kerr....He will be missed.
I hope Rob Mears doesn't mind me using his post from the WIX Facebook page. He summed it up well....

I just wanted to post a note for those who were acquainted with warbird enthusiast John Kerr. He passed away yesterday afternoon. John has been a warbird photographer and collector of warbird photos for many decades, and was someone I corresponded with almost daily for the last few years. He was a driving inspiration that kept me focused on my Corsair research and was just an all around good friend. He was the "real deal" and will be dearly missed, as will his POTD (Plane of the Day) emails, which he mailed out daily for as long as I can remember to those who subscribed to his mailing list. He was a great inspiration. Rest in peace my dear buddy John "Buddha" Kerr!


His wife, Flora posted his last words to his fellow enthusiasts:

"To all of the great airplane friends I've made over the years-Thank You for all the support and great comments you have given me. It's been great knowing you and always a pleasure going to airshows and drinking a few beers with you. May all the traditions carry on. Thanks for the suggestions and pointers, it was always great fun standing side by side and learning great photo tricks from you all."

As John was dictating this from his hospital bed day before yesterday I asked him if he had a memorable airshow or event and he said "They were all good!"
It is with heavy heart that I have to tell you that John slipped from his earthly bondage yesterday afternoon. You all made his life richer by his knowing you.

...some sad news indeed! John knew about P-51s, F4Us & all kinds of Warbirds. Always willing to reply & share with you what he knew & show his pictures along the way. My deepest condolences for the Kerr family. Blue Skies John!!

Very sad indeed, John was always a great supporter of the trivial little threads I post. Another great one that will be very much missed.

Another beer I'll only get to buy someone in the next life. I never got to meet John, but he was always patient, courteous and helpful not to mention enormously knowledgeable whenever I buzzed a question at him. I think we first corresponded back in the Warbird Worldwide days, and John contributed to my 'From the Archives' section. I wish we'd had more time.
