Hi again guys
many thanks for the help so far but I have another request. I'm a model maker building a large scale Skyraider. I'm detailing the engine & would like to know if anyone can provide images of the engine, specifically where / how all the wires, leads and hoses attach to the engine.
I have lots of photos of aircraft undergoing maintenance, but virtually no info about which wires and hoses go where. If I can see it, then I can build it accurately!
I appreciate any help you can offer. Maybe one of you guys with a full size machine can help?

Hi Rich, do you have the Detail & Scale and Squadron Walkaround books on Skyraider? I think those have some useful images.
You might also try google-imaging R-3350. Lots of photos of the engine, including cutaways, diagrams, tech illustrations, just about anything you can image if you click on enough pictures.
http://www.google.com/search?q=r-3350+e ... d=0CAUQ_AUWhat particular Skyraider are you building?

Hi - thanks a lot. I have all available books on the Skyraider as well as a copy of the engine manual as a PDF. What I don't have is images of where all the wires, leads and tubes go - ie from the engine mount bulkhead to the various parts of the engine. All the images I have show the engine undergoing maintenance and the airframe undergoing restoration, but with wires etc unplugged. I'm prepared to use some guesswork on my model as a lot of it will be hidden on the finished build, but some aren't... What I really need is images of the engine on the engine mount, attached to the bulkhead, but shot from the rear of the engine, inside the accessory compartment, with all wires, hoses and tubes attached to the relevant parts of the rear of the engine if that makes sense...
I am building the 1/32 Trumpeter AD-6 by the way.....
many thanks
Rich

Yeah, I kinda guessed
that. What I meant was what particular airplane are you going to model? Do you have paint and markings selected yet?

Hi - no, I don't have any marking scheme in mind yet. I might do a completely fictional machine. It will be USAF though, not VNAF. I might knock up some custom decals..

So your going to go to all the trouble to detail your model as realistic as possible, then add a fictional paint scheme? ... Sounds familiar, sure this isn't a real restoration your working on?

This is a very good reason to go to an airshow and see one.

Hi - thanks. There's only one Skyraider in the UK, and if and when you can get up close to it on the flightline, they don't tend to start opening up panels for anyone who asks.. the idea of asking here is that it is much more likely a US owner will be able to help me.

PM me with details of exactly what you need and I will take those pics and send them to you. You should seriously consider polka dots for your paint scheme. It is very effective at pi$$ing everyone off.

Believe it or not, I've got photos of a polka dot Skyraider. It's an AD-5, and it's Marines, but it's a Skyraider with polka dots!
