This project to restore to flying status one of the very early F4H-1F/F-4A Phantom II's has been going on for a LONG time and hopefully we are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

It is a beautiful airplane and it would be outstanding to see it fly in another year or so. This could be a big highlight of a future Planes of Fame warbird air show at Chino. I imagine it will be a limited flyer and will largely be limited to the Southern California area, but what a sight it will be!

When this bird flies, I definitely want to be there! You can never have too many flying smokin' thunderhogs, in my opinion. Especially an historic one like this, and better yet--painted in the bicentenial colors of my old squadron, VF-101 Grim Reapers out of NAS Oceana. Makes me thirsty just thinking about it.

With this one being so rare, why is the Navy not clamoring to get it back? Will it also take an act of Congress to get permission to fly it as CF did?

It was sold in the 1960's with a clean title. Waaaay before all the troubles started.
