Silva Aircraft Compass

Sat May 24, 2014 9:44 pm

I have found a Silva K.105 Aircraft Compass. I have done a web search and found that other people are looking up information about these, but no definitive answers. It showed up at a flea market, with no provenance. It is marked Kollsman License on one of the bakelite castings. Is anybody familiar with these? Were they used by the Germans, or other countries in WWII? I will post photos when I have a chance to get them.

Silva is a Swedish company founded in 1932. They still make orienteering compasses, and some dual use marine/light aircraft ones as well.

Is the card marked N,E,S,W or N,O,S,V ? If the former it's probably for export, if the latter, Swedish

Any pictures? Maybe it's from one of the P-35's Sweden order that they never got<G>
