Thanks to Mark Allen M...

Thu May 22, 2014 12:09 am

Just a quick thank you to Mark Allen M, whoever you are. Where did you find your store of aviation pics? I have been following warbirds for 25+ years and often see the same pictures time and time again. But you, my friend, consistently show pics I've never seen before. What is your secret, and is there an end to your treasure chest?

Me? I'm just another dude who spends too much time playing on an Internet forum. Thanks I guess but it's never necessary to thank me as this is just a nutty little hobby of mine. No secrets that a little Googling can't solve and unfortunately for you guys .... There's no end in sight! (think of Vincent Price laughing!)

Glad you enjoy the threads. Just don't waste time thanking me, thank the real guys who do the real work around here.

Mark (who ever I am)

OK!!! Enough folks! I'm humbled and greatly appreciate it, I really do but I'm just not into accolades. Not my thing! .... TRUST ME!!!! It's not my thing!!!!
Like I stated it's better to praise the other guys who actually make a difference in the warbird world. (See sdennison's sticky, the B-26K sticky and the guys who are going off in the Skyraider thread for just a few of the many examples) I just post a few old photos that anyone can do just as easily as I do. I wish I knew more about the stuff I post so I could be a "smart" warbird guy too.

Read one of my signatures below as I hope that sums it up for me. This thread is embarrassing. Don't want it, don't need it and the mods can 'can it' anytime now. :axe:

Thanks Mark

If it weren't for Mark Allen M sticking his nose where it doesn't belong over at HyperScale*, I wouldn't be here. And I wouldn't have met some great people and learned SO much I needed to know about Skyraiders. :supz:

*You know I'm just kiddin' ya, bud. :drink3:

OK! let me try to explain why "atta-boy" and accolade threads don't work on public internet forums, but first let me just state that even though I may be coming across as unappreciative, trust me I'm not and I'm greatly humbled. That goes without saying really and sorry if I sound negative. Not my intention at all.

What happens time and again when good folks express their appreciation for something someone does publicly is that it's only a matter of time before some turd with a personality disorder shows up and tries to twist someone's good intentions into something it isn't. I've seen this happen many times and it a huge turn-off. It happened to me recently on a plastic model forum where a real nice WIX member, who frequents both sites, asked me if I would be interested in posting some photos for the benefit of the modelers. Of course I would, and did, and for every poster who expressed appreciation, there were more than a few who stated the only thing I was doing was stroking my ego. Sorry but that's the furthest from the truth and really pissed me off. (sorry I still have thin skin) Needless to say I'll never post over there again.

Bottom line is I'm well aware that the original poster of this thread had nothing but really good intentions and I greatly appreciate the kind words from him, and all of you all the time, but If you knew me personally you would know I really don't need accolades. I've said it many times I enjoy this little hobby of mine and as long as people enjoy these photos threads (and the management doesn't mind) I'll try to continue to generate them. It's NOT about me and never has been, it's about the service veterans and warbird enthusiasts past and present. No more, no less.

If you want to thank me for anything, please thank me by helping me explain these old photos better. I still get more wrong than right :?

Thanks kindly again folks and I truely hope you understand where I'm coming from as I just have no toleration for any more drama on an internet forum. Been there, done that and it's a complete drag and waste of time.

FWIW none of my posts in this thread have been rants but rather simply an editorial.
