Always been interested in this corsair for various reasons. I stumbled across this site that indicates it is not really a birdcage unit. I had not read about this modification before but after looking at the pics in the yard in Provo again it would seem he is correct.

So that would make the one from Lake Michigan the only survivor except for perhaps the uber double secret private unit in California?

Any idea of the Bu. No. of the one in the swamp here in FL?

Yep, the one in Brazil is actually a 1A, like Planes of Fame. Boy, wouldn't it be nice if POF got this one and redid both Corsairs back to authentic 1A configuration?! Then just use the -1 Birdcage parts on either a new-build or -1 Restoration.

Aside from the Pensacola example, the other real birdcage Corsair is this one being restored to static display in Australia.

Thanks Warbird Kid. They have made amazing progress on that restoration. There should still be the remains of a -1 in a Florida swamp, the one Harry Doan got the fuselage from or portions thereof.
