This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Today's Wings Over Illawarra with many warbirds intending to display and fly for the public, had hoped for less strong winds as it was forecasted to drop off after lunchtime.
Unfortunately for anyone in the area of the airshow and south coast, it seems the winds didnt reduce at all through most of the day.
A very strong crosswind was active across the airport from the mountains and blew nearly all day so strong that it kept most of the planned flying aircraft displays grounded for the show. HARS's and other warbirds which had flown in earlier were tho on public display all day.
The results for the planned airshow was that only 1 medical helicopter flew if that can be included ....and 2 warbirds flew. The RAAF also had some luck with 2 F/A-18B Hornets from Williamtown flying down for the day with displays then landing and also doing displays on departures.
One of the flying warbirds was the S.211 jet trainer and the other was the new flying CAC Sabre jet fighter, both from Victoria.
