BTW all 4 Swiss Ju 52 use the original BMW engines, Lufthansa´s D-AQUI has P&W´s installed. (Originally the Ju 52´s could be ordered before the war with different engines installed, several former operators chose P&W´s because of spare parts availability in certain parts of the world)

That first one almost looks like C.G.
I'm sure one would want to choose their days carefully, to fly in mountains like that.

Are there many operators of the BMW engines? How supportable are they? By whom?

Would like to see more of them on the warbird circuit. Maybe they can be to Europe what the Ford Tri=motor is to the U.S. There are a few JU-52s/CASA 352's around.

Andy, AFAIK Ju Air is the only operator of BMW 132 engines, and they do maintenance and engine overhauls themselves. The 132 is a development (improved one) of the BMW Hornet, itself a licence production of the P&W R 1690 (Hornet A) though in metrical system. Dimensions were quite similar, so operators could choose either BMW`s or P&W`s. Lufthansa`s Ju 52 (ex- Martin Caidin`s) is equipped with P&W R 1340 Wasps, as is South African Aiways`as well as Fighter Factory/MAM one I believe. AJBSalis`collections has the Spanish ENMASA engines AFAIK. This makes 8 flying examples, I guess they are the only ones airworthy.
