Vintage Warbird Magnesium Wheel Identification Help Needed!!

Tue Feb 18, 2014 12:32 am

Hello,
I'm new to this Forum, and what I need is a little help in identifying some Vintage Aircraft Wheels and Tires I have!
I have (2) 8-Spoke, and (4) 10-Spoke Magnesium "Goodyear" Aircraft Wheels...along with (2) Aluminum Wheels and Tires that I believe are off of a "Caribou"...as well as (2) small Fiberglass Wheels with Tires!
I can e-mail you some photos of them , or Post them on here...(if I can figure out how)!
I also have some Part Numbers, if that would be better!
Any help would be Greatly appreciated!
Thanks, Greg Shelton

Greetings Mr. Shelton...and welcome to WIX!

I sent you an email to which--if you choose--you could reply with your wheel pics attached. I'd be happy to post for you.

Per this http://tailslide.firelightsoftware.com/ ... 00028.html the 32x8's were used on Corsairs.

The 27SC's - T-6/P-51?

The 27SC wheel is P-51. It's got the grooves for the brake rotors - 7.6" brakes. :)

32X8 could also be F6F I believe.

Hi all

Could the 32x8 rims have been used on Hudson Bombers. I inherited a set recently but the tyres themselves seem large to be for a fighter. If they off a Corsair I'm stoked but being in OZ I'm guessing larger Transport type aircraft just by the size of tyres on the rims.
The tyre pattern is two rows of "Diamond" patterns with three individual grooves in between if that helps! And the Dunlop brand is just visible as the tyres have been affected by years of being exposed to the elements.

Cheers

Any P/Ns off the wheel would help.
Axle dia and brake type can be different even though they are same size.

The 27SC actually looks like a P-63 wheel, while the one above it looks like a P-51 wheel.
