An assistant editor asked me for some help on the ID of this Mustang...
Aerial Visuals - Airframe Dossier - North AmericanA-36 / P-51/F-51 Mustang / P-48 Enforcer, s/n 44-72942 USAAF, c/n 122-39401, c/r N5427V...the concern is we may not have the correct ID.
His comments were...
USCR says -72942, as does Mustangs, but Goodall (edit: WD6) says it should be -74942 Which would you go with?
My copy of Paul Coggan's Mustang Survivors is in storage right now. Does anyone here have a copy they get get their hands on? I think Mr. Coggan was an authority on the subject.

Eric has it nailed. Fulton's P-51D was pretty stock and NOT involved with any Enforcer program. It lived 20 miles from me for most of my life!
