One of the original USAF C-23s was earmarked for the NMUSAF, but later sold.

A great little airplane...and somewhat forgotten in USAF service in Europe. I remember seeing them at RAF Kemble in The 80's...

The Forest Service is getting I think 15 of them, they will use them for hauling cargo and as smokejumper platforms. Link below

Have they managed to find a replacement this time? I recall the C-27 was going to replace these, but then the AF got whiny about the Army having fixed-wing air and snapped those up, leaving these to stay in as long as they would last.

I remember the last few Sherpa rear fuselage sections rolling down the production line. Seeing them retired now kind of makes me feel old!
There are already some civilian operated Sherpas. Hopefully we'll see more. They would make a supremely useful, if somewhat unappreciated, warbird.
