Can someone please tell Geoff that he sounds like a used car salesman, or the guy on late night TV selling the Turnip Twaddler~

Thanks for the video Andy!

This one has a pretty great vantage point of the same formation :drink3:

I attended this great show. It's wasn't just that it was a ten Merlin formation. It was a ten Merlin formation with NO Mustangs! :spit :supz:

 I thought of that shortly after I posted it. 10 Merlins, and not a mustang to be seen.

Don't get me wrong, Mustangs are O.K.! They were initially ordered by the British after all.

That made me think that I'd love to see a P-51A or P-51B in RAF colours. Whaddaya all think?

Glad you've been enjoying the video. It was -28 degrees C this morning, so, the video was a good distraction pop2

Hey Andy,

Bike is down in the basement for the season. Winter on the slopes isnt my deal, I need brakes

I am actually thinking about bringing my Chevelle to the Edenvale Gathering of Classics next year, are you planning to attend?

CF-MAD is currently based at Edenvale, so, that's a pretty safe bet.

If you come up to this part of Ont. before that, let me know, I'd be happy to give you a tour. :supz:

Hey, my skiis have brakes.

No Mustangs but I'd venture to guess that more than half of those Merlins were born in Detroit.

Pretty much all the big shows in NZ (and some of the smaller ones) have

Sorry it's a P-51D in post-war RNZAF colours, but close-ish!

The Mossie's Merlins are ex-RNZAF post-war Mosquito stock, don't know off-hand where built.

Thanks for that shot Errol. Nice!

Goshikisen, I would say, with a pretty fair degree of certainty that the 4 Lanc Merlins are Packard built. Before they were mounted I had someone point out the "Maytag" logo on the rocker box covers  .

A MK XVI Spitfire, by definition, has a Packard built Merlin. I'm not sure about the Hurricanes.

I suppose the Mosquito would also likely have Packard Merlins being an FB MK.26 Canadian built variant. ErrolC... were RNZAF Mosquitoes built in Australia? They also ran Packard Merlins?

From the program from Military Aviation Museum's Warbirds Over the Beach celebration in May 2013
http://issuu.com/militaryaviationmuseum ... am_2013_sm
During that time, AvSpecs had been restoring hydraulic and electrical systems, making pipes, and constructing new cowlings and other parts. Two former Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) Merlin 25s were located in Australia complete with genuine engine mounts. These were sent to California to be restored by Vintage V-12s.

And because I found it while googling, here is an early engine run of KA114
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vslbW0SHYDo

I have chores to do (summer holidays means little jobs around the place like water-blasting the fence in prep for painting), so no time just now to dig into RNZAF Mossies.
