I suppose this has been discussed before but here goes. My belief has always been that the Women's Army Service Pilots were no allowed to fly outside the continental US. The father of a friend has recently met a woman who claims to be a former WASP who ferried B-24s to Europe via the southern route. The father is a former B-29 crewman and private pilot so not totally ignorant of WW2 or aviation in general. Is it possible that some woman made this flight even if the rules forbade it? Am I right in believing woman were not supposed to fly outside the US during WW2? Could she be a poseur?

As far as I was aware WASP's weren't (and didn't fly) beyond the borders of the USA.
Would be easy to check out with the WASP veterans group who are very active still with reunions etc. or via the WASP Museum.
