Unbelievable the amount of work that has gone into that plane so far. Looks like the wings are going to be a real challenge...

Nice to see the wings finally inside! Can't believe they sat outside until this year! Interesting restoration process where only main sub-assemblies are worked on, one at a time. I believe these are the last (major) parts, right?

I think you're right Chris. The wings are certainly the biggest bits left.
It makes sense to work on small bits at a time and see them through to completion.
Often when detailed work is being carried out, it looks like not much is happening, but the "devil is in the details".
It will be really interesting to see how they restore those spoilers. I have no doubt that it will be to the same standard as the rest of this amazing project. Time is usually not very kind to magnesium.
As far as I'm concerned, this restoration takes the cake for the most ambitious, logistically challenging, uphill slog of any to date. Huge!!
Keep up the great work MAAM! She's gonna be a beaut!

Nice. I stopped by a couple of weeks ago. The guide that I spoke with said they have made a lot progress on the plumbing.
A couple other exciting bits that he told me was that they are working on the the R4D and Martin 404 to get them flying again this summer.
And they are trying to secure funds to build a second hangar. Hope it all works out for them.

Now thats exciting news! I've yet to make it out there to Reading but I will be at some point soon. Especially if these two beauties are flying again and theres a new hangar!

The wings are in pretty good shape considering what they went through. There is enough there to be able rebuild the wings which is a good thing

What a fantastic restoration. I saw it this June at WWII Weekend, but I still remember when it first arrived and the museum was on the other side of the field. The P-61 (all except the crew pod) had to sit outside since there wasn't anywhere to restore it. After the move to the other side all the work moved into the small shop, and what amazing work it has been. It almost brings tears to my eyes when I see how it's come along. Beautiful work!
