RAAF P-40 A29-53 picture collection

Thu Nov 14, 2013 2:53 pm

Hi

We have been adding some pictures from Ashley Briggs personal collection of the Moorabbin Air Museum P-40 to the P40 album on our Facebook page, going all the way back from the remnants found around 1966, recovery, display in the Museum and finally a number of shots of it being restored from the ground up (it suffered badly from years of being outdoors at the Museum, which is close to the sea)

Enjoy

Interesting P-40 fitted with a P-51D wing!

Thanks for sharing.

BTW, whatever happened to A29-58 at the Morrabin museum ? I photographed it when I visited there in 1992. See attached file:

That is a photo of A29-53; the museum never had A29-58 in its collection.

A29-53 and A29-59 are around, and that is it.

Thank you for correcting me on the RAAF S/N. Looking at my original photo (enlarged) it still looks more like a -58 rather than the correct -53. I should have looked closer as I was no doubt still been suffering from jet lag...
