Does anyone know the correct distance from the end of the barrel cooling jacket to the center of the first set of holes on a Browning AN/M2 like those found on most WWII American bombers? I have measured 5 different jackets on replica and come up with 5 different measurements. I am trying to build a replica and am trying to make it fairly accurate. I cant seem to find anything on the internet. Thanks in advance.

Try Warbird-parts.com. They have them "brand new" WWII surplus advertised For Sale.

Measured my .50 from a P-39, end of cooling jacket to center of first set of holes is three & five/eighths inches.

Greetings, I'm from the PT boat site above and noticed the references from here. I hope this isn't too late but here's some jacket drawings I dug up while working on my web site project:

A second post to validate my existence. I'm sorry to read that spam is making it harder to run a clean board.

Thanks for posting these. Can you say where you got the drawings from? I need to do a Browning in CAD for a Mustang project I am working on and have not been able to locate the drawings for them.

I got them from a gentleman in the UK, it was all he had in the way of official .50 cal. drawings. Except for the sideplates, the parts in the drawing on my pt103 site are from photos.

Oh well, thanks anyway, I appreciate you posting them.
To anyone else I would really like to get my hand on the drawings for the M2 or equivalents. Please let me know if you know where to get them.

Thanks, that is one of the few drawings i was missing for the replica I'm building. I have most of the exterior drawings, both side plates, the top plate, bottom plate, the trunnion. I still need the back plate and receiver cover and the pawl brackets to be externally complete. If you have those i would be extremely thankful!!

Cool, glad they helped. Sorry but the only other drawings I have are the side plates, trunnion block shim, breech bearing lock screw, and barrel jacket assembly (no dimensional info).
If you don't mind, I'd appreciate seeing the other drawings you have too so I can check my work. My e-mail is elconaut at comcast dot net.
