Marine's Dream yesterday?

Sun Aug 25, 2013 6:52 am

Was anybody at the show yesterday when Marine's Dream had it's brakes lock up and nosed up?
I want to know if Tom's OK.

A friend was there. He said it had minor damage. I'd assume nobody got hurt..

I went to the New Garden show yesterday, hoping to see Andrew in the P-51 and Tom's Corsair. A friend that was there Saturday said the corsair was in a hanger after yesterday, apparently when he came in my friend thought it was a prop strike (but the brakes locking up makes sense) and Marines Dream nosed over, tail in the air a bit, then came slamming down. All appeared to be ok but I'm guessing it's still in New Garden till they get it fixed up.

This really truly is the most important piece of information.
It sucks when something rare and expensive gets damaged but thank goodness nobody got hurt.

Absolutely Andy. The rest is only metal.

even though it's metal we all still cringe inside. Tom was the top priority here and in all cases. But deep down i know that the aircraft are irreplaceable at times. How thousands of hours of restoration and money could be gone with accidents. It's living-breathing history to see all these planes fly 70 plus years after American might put them together. How much money these gentleman have to pour out for insurance premiums just to show a whole different generation what a warbird looks like in the air and how it sounds. Thank god everybody from the Liberty Belle got out and was safe but my heart just broke when it sat and burned. These planes are such a symbol of democracy, freedom, the girls making them rivet by rivet for a amazing cause. So many of the greatest generation is leaving us and soon will be gone forever. Taking their accounts and stories with them. The things that we will remember them by is symbols like the Marines Dream. But in the end a human life was ok, and a good guy at that.

Always remember, you can bend a Corsairs wings but you can't break a Corsairs will.

Looks like a lot of right rudder to counter a left swing, no up elevator to keep the tail down and over braking. Lots of gouges in the runway! pop2 pop2
It can be fixed. We have the technology! $$$$$$$

Wow, I bet there was some pucker factor there, could have been a lot worse, glad it didn't go all the way over & that the pilot is ok. Airplanes can be fixed, it's just a shame that things like this happen every once in a while. Hope the bird is fixed & back up soon.
