My New Book: Hidden Warbirds

Sat Jun 29, 2013 6:19 pm

Wanted to put out a note of thanks to the more than 100 warbirders who helped with my new book Hidden Warbids: The Epic Stories of Finding, Recovering, and Rebuilding WWII’s Lost Aircraft.

It was published by Zenith Press last week and is available at Amazon for 36-percent off the $29.95 cover price.*

• Note that as an Amazon partner, WIX will get a percentage of the book sales if you click on the Amazon box at the top right of most WIX pages and purchase your copy directly after entering the Amazon site.

The book is hardbound with dust jacket, 256 pages with 132 and 47 B&W photos.

Aircraft featured in the book include Butch Schroeder’s F-6 Lil Margaret, Glacier Girl, the Swamp Ghost, Bruce Fenstermaker’s Japanese aircraft recoveries, the B-29s from China Lake, Jim Slattery’s SBD and SB2C, the last Vindicator, the Big Island B-18, the Tallichet Marauder recoveries, the B-17E/XC-108 Desert Rat, my hangar mate -Taigh Ramey’s Harpoon, the Corsairs and Mustangs from Latin America, and the book starts out with an overview of how the warbird movement evolved from the days after the end of World War II to the present. In the back is a 10-page list of suggested reading and Internet resources.

Plus there’s some great warbird photography from a number of WIXers.

The book has received some good press in the Baltimore Sun, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, and if you’d like to read a chapter, check out this excerpt at Gizmodo:

Hope you enjoy it as much as I did while writing it.

Detailed reviews on Amazon.com most appreciated.

Blue skies,
Nick Veronico

Great idea!
I have a couple of Tom Cotter's "Corvette/Hemi in a Barn" books and Pat Ganahl's "Lost Hot Rods" books (in fact one of my cars is in Vol 2)...so I'm wondering why I didn't think of it !!!! (Probably because I don't know many warbird owners :) )
I just ordered it and good luck with it.
