News on the EAA website is that Fuddy Duddy will be substituting for Aluminum Overcast on its US tour starting at Oshkosh

That is great news. I just checked it out on the EAA website. I will love to see Fuddy Duddy back in the Air. I really wish that Geneseo could have gotton it back.

Yes, thanks for the heads up, Tony.

Also noticed that the plan is to have AO ferried back to OSH in time for display at Airventure. With Thunderbird also planning to attend, all we have to do is convince the YAF guys to drop in with their Fort (between visits to Minnesota and Indiana) and the reunion will be all set.

Great to hear the news... My question is, has her spar AD been complied with? Can someone from the group fill us in on the details..... Us from down south would love to hear/read an update.... Thanks, Alan :D

Yes, Fuddy Duddy's spar AD has been complied with. She hadn't flown in a couple of years but was ferried to OSH on Wednesday afternoon and is now having the full annual inspection done. The engines ran real strong and she seems in good shape.

that is great. It has been many years since I saw Fuddy Duddy fly and good to hear she is back in the air. What a treat for those that have never seen Fuddy Duddy fly. I remember the first time I saw her at Geneseo covered over with a makeshift shed. My website is taking a fit right now or I would post that pic.

Found it, it was on another site I keep for forum pics

Imagine my first visit to Geneseo and pulling up to the museum and seeing a sight like this.

Fuddy Duddy will be flying at AirVenture, flights are being promoted and sold at www.b17.org The spar AD has been done, the airplane is currently being annualed. EAA & numerours volunteers are indeed working very hard to get AO back to OSH for the show, it will be tight, but all the stops are pulled out.

Any idea when Fuddy Duddy will be up and flying?

Also when did they do the Spar work.

She was flown to Oshkosh on June 16th on a ferry flight and is undergoing inspection currently. She is slated to be offering rides at Oshkosh for the show and will start a Fall tour right after that (presuming Northeast area). Spar work was done starting back in the 90's with a wing pull and recent inspection work proved that no further measures were needed. From trusted sources, she is in very good condition and will need very little to get her back up to full flight status. The only reason why she hasn't been flying for several years was the lack of funding to insure her. Hopefully this will create a bit of a revenue stream for Wings of Eagles (former NWM) and allow her to continue flying beyond the utilization period of EAA.
