PBY over New Jersey yesterday

Mon May 27, 2013 9:34 am

I was visiting a friend in New Jersey last week when we were just south of Long Branch yesterday, we saw a PBY flying low and slow overhead on a southwesterly heading. Would anyone happen to know which one it was that we saw?

My guess would be the Military Aviation Museum's of Virginia Beach. If I recall correctly the American Airpower Museum hosted this PBY for the Jones Beach Airshow, and they posted on their FB page that it would be departing yesterday afternoon.

BTW if you ever get the chance to be at the AAM during the Memorial Day Weekend, they put on a heck of a show at the museum!

Hope this helps,
Chris

Cool! Thanks for the info y'all. I flew back home to Canada last night because we don't have the long weekend. Hope you're all enjoying the day.

Cheers!

So funny as I was at a barbecue at the Jersey Shore yesterday and looked up and saw it heading south an wondered which one it was as well.

I come here and see I don't have to do any research because it has already been identified.

You guys are awesome!

Speaking of PBYs, I jumped one at around 8:30 this morning over an undisclosed compound deep in the heart of the Republic of Texas... Pardon the poor photo, I was flying a T-6 at the time...

......................and a wind farm, quarry, cotton fields, ag applicator, etc. And oh ya the most impressive collection of airplanes this side of Rod Lewis. I actually touched the only two seat ME-109 in the world!

Obergrafeter, funny you brought up this flying boat fan. I was killing time on my lunch break the other day and was doing a little search for info on him. Everything I read, he seems like a great guy. Maybe one day when the VA lotto strikes my lucky number I could give him a call. Any ways just thought I'd share.
