Ottawa Air Show Pics Posted

Fri Sep 16, 2005 12:47 pm

Yeah, yeah, yeah... I know I am a little slow. My distractions this summer have included more than just attending airshows. I built an interlocking stone deck in the back yard with a pergolla (shade roof). I didn't get it done until just this week, so I finally freed up some time to work on the pictures from Carp.

The pics are now in a Webshots album. You can find them at...

Enjoy!

The other P-51 is the Commemorative Air Force's "Old Red Nose". It was the first airframe in the CAF fleet if I remember correctly. Some consider it the "first warbird". Along with Oklahoma Miss, it too is a former RCAF machine, so it was kind of nice seeing two former Mustang Mk IVs in Canada's capital.

Mike:
You are on the $. The original CAFers donated "Old Red Nose" to start the CAF. It is now based with the Dixie Wing in Atlanta, GA. If you want any info on her go to dixiewing.org

Mike, very nice shots.

I especially love the German bird!

Philip, I had the chance to sit in the P-51D on Sunday, it's a very different environment from the Focke-Wulf.

I can't thank the CAF guys enough for letting me do that.

Will do.

We might come down with the 208 to Florida next February, if so, we'll try to stop by on the way down/up.

And about the ride, I couldn't settle for a back seat ride, I think that when I'll be ready, I'll buy a P-51D and ride it from the front!

I'll gladly take your spot in the back Ollie :D

Was planning on going up in the Red Nose P-51 but the new Canon 100-400 IS kinda put a big dent in the bank account just before the show, hopfully their will be a 2006 Carp air show and the CAF boys will be their again.
