Have you contacted A&T? http://www.atrecovery.com/Index.htm

Not sure if they have accomplished all of the recoveries.

Complete and detailed list up until 2009 in CW 69 - 'Naval Gazing-Recovered Treasures.' Perhaps someone with a bit of time can dig it out and tally each type :)

Rob, from Classic Wings # 69, 16 Widcats, 14 Dauntlesses, 1 Vindicator, 2 Hellcats, 1 Avenger and 2 Corsairs. Since issue 69 in the past 5 years or more, I'm thinking 1 Corsair, 1 Hellcat, 2 Dauntlesses and 2 or 3 Wildcats. I wrote the museum asking for an updated list but never heard anything.

I hope we see a recovery or two this summer/fall.

Rob, from Classic Wings # 69, ... 1 Avenger

The Warbird Registry lists three Avengers as coming from Lake Michigan: 0628, 01747 and 05954 (the latter was the first Lake Michigan recovery circa 1979).

Besides the early "Birdcage" F4U-1 (now at Pensacola) what other Corsairs were recovered?

According to CW issue 69, FG-1D Bu 88382 (actually a Lake Washingtn recovery) is at the Museum of Flight in Seattle and FG-1D Bu 88368 is at the Patriots Point Museum in South Carolina. Now that I look closer at the list in CW, one of the Hellcats I mentioned earlier Bu 70185 was recovered from the Atlantic Ocean and not Lake Michigan. This Hellcat is at the Quonset Air Museum in Rhode Island.

Interesting, wasn't aware of the three, anyone have current whereabouts? The list we published was provided by the Director of NNMA and featured only those recoveries sanctioned by the Navy. So there may well be a few 'others' from earlier years....
