This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Anybody know if there are any warbirds or anything of interest still in the Dominican Republic?

There are a couple of base guards at the air base East of Santo Domingo. I think one is a P-51. It looks like there might be a B-25 in the junkyard on the North side of the field, nut it's probably something else.

Looking on Mike Henniger's website "Aerial Visuals", there are a number of aircraft (P-51, C-47, T-34, AT-6, Vampire and others) at the San Isidro Air Base east of Santo Domingo.

The P-51 mentioned on outdoor display in the Dominican Republic is also known to be one of the original "The Millie G's" from the 55th FG. One can only imagine had this aircraft followed the same fate as the former FAD airframe that is "Upupa Epops", how prized it would be today.

There is a group who cosmetically restored the aircraft back in around 2004 and hoped to get this, the genuine MG, into a purpose built building and show the aircraft's history. I put them into contact with Maj. Gen. Giller at the time and they were swapping emails with him.
Is the good General still with us?

At San Isidro Air Base is the only other surviving Curtis Wright 19R (Kermit now has the ex-Don Carter one)

Robbie, With my retirement from loadmastering I am pretty much done with traveling! The company I work for is doing some business in the D.R. and I'm doing some research to go along with it.
Mike, I had forgotten about the 19R down there. I might be able to make something happen about the phot request.
Thanks everybody for the replies.
