B25's recently sold?

Tue Apr 02, 2013 6:04 pm

After reading the thread about the Mexican B25, I ended up surfing the web for a few hours looking at B25 sites and ended up at various sites.

I'm always looking at controller and last year there was at least two b25's that were sold. One of them was Sunday Punch and the other I believe was Super Rabbit. However, was their a third one sold that I can't remeber the name to?

Now I know that's a very broad question but I remember specifically seeing an Indian head on the rear vertical stabilizers just like Show Me and thought it was Super Rabbit that had that. However, I have not found a single picture to confirm that Super Rabbit ever had an Indian head. I'm fairly certain I'm not thinking of the shield that is on the tail of Super Rabbit.

I remember on the listing, the aircraft was in a pretty crowded hangar with stuff around it and IIRC they said it was being annulled at that time and was coming with a fresh annual. This would have been last summer to fall. I thought I took a screenshot of the listing, but can't find it on either my iPad or iPhone.

Any ideas?

Are you thinking of Betty's Dream? I think it was sold in 2010. This 8 gun nose B25 is a great restoration job, it used to be based in Anoka MN at C&P Aviation. As a member of the CAF MN wing I really miss having that in our back yard, whenever we wanted to see what an original part looked like we would drive over to C&P and inspect that plane.

This ship has the Air Apache marking on the tail as you mentioned.

It's very possible it was Betty's dream. But if I'm remembering this from last year and it was actually in 2010, then I think I need to go to the doctors lol.

When I looked through the registry prior to posting this, I saw a couple that had the Indian head. However, none really triggered my memory so that i could deffinately say yes, though this one sort of did.

If this was the only one sold recently, then it must have been it.

Are you thinking of the B-25 in Franklin, VA? I think it's called "Chapter 11" or something like that? It hasn't been sold as of yet, but the fact that it is now actually for sale is pretty significant given the apparent tangled ownership history the plane reportedly has had (and discussed several times on WIX).

Based on your descriptions, I highly suspect you had been viewing something on Kermit Weeks' B-25 "Apache Princess". Last year (and as of recently) they have been going through the aircraft, with a complete inspection, engine runs, and at least one taxi run so-far, ahead of flying the aircraft again soon. When parked, it has usually been in the Fantasy of Flight restoration hangar, which like the other hangars, is quite packed with aircraft, engines, and the like. It's not being sold, however.

It's now lucky lady but where do you see it for sale at? Was just thinking this would be a great addition to our museum as its not so far away that we could truck it up here.

I also searched the owner from the FAA site and could find nothing.

It was on Barnstormers, along with the PT-26 and a few other planes that were part of a collection, but I no longer see it. There was a broker in Las Vegas (IIRC) who was posting it. If you do a search on WIX, you will find the thread that talks about the ad. I was interested in the PT-19 or 26, but I know that's kind of a pipe dream right now.

B-25J "Lucky Lady"/"Chapter XI" located in Franklin, Virginia, was recently sold in an ebay auction. It will be interesting to see where she ends up. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1944-North-Amer ... 1064978441

The eBay auction ended with Reserve Price Not Met, so I'm not sure it's sold.

I overlooked that, I guess it will be staying put in the meantime.

Hi Thomas,
Nice to see you here on WIX!
Re B-25s: Weren't you the owner of Earl Reinert's TB-25N 44-30243 Tokyo Express at one point? Do you have any photos from when you owned it? Did it have an executive interior or was it gutted inside? Sorry for so many questions but it's the only B-25 I've had contact with (I repainted its nose markings back in the winter of '80-'81).

I'm not the restorer Tom Reilly from Douglas Georgia, but I am an admirer of his work.

Pacific Prowler, 44-30823A, was sold in August 2013. Went from Ft. Worth ,Texas to Mt Pleasant ,Texas. Looks like Mr. Glover has quite a collection in Mt Pleasant.
