Factory paint scheme for late war TBM Avengers?

Mon Mar 04, 2013 8:06 pm

I'm researching a TBM Avenger that rolled off GM's Trenton production line on June 26, 1945.

What paint scheme would it be wearing at this point in the war? Overall sea blue? Tri-color?

Thanks ya'll,
Chappie

Glossy sea blue overall...just like the CAF Avenger that Jack & his crew restored. In fact, they had to repaint the plane because it was the wrong shade of Glossy Sea Blue.

Thanx Sax. Have you been keeping up with the goings on at HGR?

Yes. Frank Darney from Jack's Fawn Grove crew was over there a couple of weeks ago hooking up all the hydraulic lines and flight controls for the wings. There hasn't been any other workdays scheduled since the wings were put on. I think standing out on the ramp in 22 degree weather for a half-day was enought to convince everyone to wait for warmer weather to finish things up. We're justi waiting for word on the next workday.
