Hurricane AE977

Tue Feb 19, 2013 10:33 pm

Sorry if this was posted and I missed it. A bit disappointed to find out that Friedkin has let AE977 go and she has returned/is returning to England. I have enjoyed very much seeing the Hurry at Chino a couple of times and with so very few of them in North America chances of seeing another are pretty slim for us west coasters. Anybody know the why of the sale? On a related note, will we be seeing either of the Mk.I Spitfires come to the States?

It has been in the UK since last summer, but before that was tucked away out of sight for quite a few years. It must be about 5 years since it departed Chino.

Come on up to Paine Field, FHC's Hurricane will be flying with their Mk VC Spitfire, and HFF usualy brings their MK IX Spitfire over for Battle of Britain Day. :spit :spit

This lovely atmospheric shot of AE977 taken recently at her new home at Biggin Hill was recently posted on Flypast forum showing her sitting in one of the original wartime anti-blast 'E' dispersal pens 8)

Yeah, it's one of their more frequently flown aircraft.
