Don't know if this is the correct forum...

Tue Dec 11, 2012 11:35 pm

My dad was a B26 pilot in WW2. When he was alive, I had no interest in any of that. Now that he's gone, I'm trying to find out more about him. I know he trained at Ft Howe in Texas, class of 43 maybe. I have a picture of him and his crew in front of one of his aircraft. It has IP20 painted in big letters on its nose. That's about all I know. I think he told me once he was stationed in France. Is there any info that can point me in a direction here or do I have a lot of nothing?
Thanks for reading.
Casey

Hi Casey,
First off, welcome to WIX!
Check out the tutorial on posting photos so we can see your dad's training ship. "IP20" was a buzz number; the letters referred to the location of the base and 20 was a plane-in-group number. Have you contacted the National Archives for your father's military records yet?

His name would be a good place to start.

Welcome. Yes WIX is a great place to start your research. Later today, once I shake the jet lag out, I will be putting together a photo thread of B-26 images. So keep an eye out. Who knows you may find an image of your fathers group. Best of luck in your research and supply as much info of your fathers service here on WIX so many of the research experts can assist you. Many have helped me over the years as well. Great resources here.
