Hmmm! Is that really the max payload for a B-29? Looks to be quite a lot. I would assume maybe half of that pile. Also interesting in a few images are the layed out ammo belts. Gives a great example of what seems to be the maximum ammo firepower.

The Korean war A-26 packin' 14 .50's (8 in the nose and 3 in each wing) was a pretty daunting thing to have coming at you out of the night, plus it's bomb or rocket load was more than enough to screw up your Kimchee party.
As was the F7F-3N with 4 x 20 mm's.
I think the CORSAIR is an AU-1 since it's got 4 x 20's,
and what more can you say about the SPAD?? it dropped everything up to and including a kitchen sink and a toilet.

And yes, the USAF did originally have contingencies for the B-1A (and B-1B) to be able to fly the AIM-54B and AIM-54C, so you are not seeing things.

+1, I'm guessing the Tigercat had an interesting CG at times which would cause the tail end to drop like that.

A lightly loaded Tigercat, especially with low fuel, was prone to be a tail sitter. Note no belly tank on the tail sitter in the photo. Empty drums and crates were used in the field as a tail stand.

Wow, great shot of the B-1. That is some serious hardware. Looks like B-1A prototype number four.

It's B-1A #3. Both #3 and #4 received the Desert One scheme and the Crosseye ECM installation. The only way to tell the two apart (beside the stabilizer fins of the capsule on #3) is that the wing roots on #3 were painted while on #4 they were dielectric black.

Also, in addition to the B-1B being "all conventional" (actually, they can still mount free-fall nuclear devices just like any other aircraft in the inventory), you'll most likely never see a B-1B carrying ALCM or CALCM missiles because that required moving the 1/2 Bomb Bay separation bulkhead forward, something not allowed under START. Doesn't mean the wiring isn't still there though...

What they don't tell you the C-124 can carry, troops or Tank or empty fuel truck or Jeeps...but I find it hard to be lieve it could carry 20 at one time, maybe if they're broken down in crates.

And the B-1B muight be physically able to carry a nuke, but the BWs don't have any on station and the crews probably aren't current.
In short, a war would be over before the paperwork was done.
