"What would Bob do?" t-shirts?

Wed Aug 01, 2012 2:34 pm

So....are we going to be able to buy these on-line anytime soon?

It made my Oshkosh...and my sources tell me have been seen recently in the Chino vacinity. Spreading like wildfire. You see...what we need, is a small, easy to build t-shirt, and buy like 5,000 of them or something.

On Facebook I saw a photo of John Hinton wearing one in Chino. Great stuff.

Grey T-Shirt. Front has "What Would Bob Do?" The Rear has a Defender Image with "It was a Great Idea, It Just Didn't Work"

Jerry Beck designed those shirts and the gang at Tri-State and Odergaard Wings recreated them for this year. PM warbirdaid or Rob on fb I think he had a few left.

I didn't realize they had more made up, they are great shirts, but not many people get the joke. Mark T gave me mine many years ago. I was wearing it Friday for Gerry. That day was the fifth anniversary of his accident in the A model.

I'm gonna get flamed for saying this but I kinda hope someone has enough class to send Diemert a check for part of the proceeds from these shirts. Mechanical abilities aside I have to give him credit for having lived life on his own terms.

Hope they don't get so popular that he sees one and sue for using his name...Welcome to Amerika.

Not by me you won't. Anybody that puts four seats in a Mustang is alright by me.

How the heck do you get four seats in a mustang anyway? Did he have a couple of those "manpods" slung under the wings?

If I remember the story correctly, he installed a single 'bench' length-wise behind the pilot seat running back. There were 'adjustable' seat backs that you could slide into place, then passengers 'straddled' the bench and leaned back against the seat back. Think of a 4-man bobsled.

He had to modify the turtledeck to accomodate the CF-100 canopy. Looked kind of goofy, but..........well.....it looked kind of goofy.

There are pictures floating around the web if you look for them.
