This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

http://www.seattlepi.com/news/article/E ... 728743.phpShocked, I tell you...jaw-dropping shocked. $2.2 million and they came back with nothing.
Maybe they need to make a movie with Nick Cage, call it "National Treasure III: TIGHAR's Quest". Nicholas Cage would find it for sure!

Oh come on Speedy,
I'm sure the entire team came back totally relaxed and refreshed, and with great looking tans. They probably used their evenings planning how to skin the next load of sheep. Gotta be creative to keep pumping the same old snake oil year after year.

Nice work (cough cough - vacation) if you can get it.

Ober,
You are skating along the edge of a verboten area, no politics in this forum please, you have plenty of other outlets for that.

They should change the name to TIGHAS.

I think her entire involvement consisted of simply saying "nice that somebody's looking for her." I doubt Hillary had ever even heard of TIGHAR before. What little I've bothered to read about the latest "expedition" said that it was entirely privately funded.

How much is needed? I could give a little (or a lot) depending on how you look at it. Can I go along to protect my investment?

Since it's ALL privately funded, and Richard is always looking for the next fish to snare, it's your money to toss in the fire, but I never heard of any donor going along, it's sort of like a Masons Meeting or house cats, you just know they're having a great time, you just can't catch 'em at it.

I was sure they were gonna come back with the goods this time around.

Just think of the other recoveries of confirmed airframes that could have been accomplished with that same 2.2 million...like the TBDs at Jaluit Atoll that TIGHAR touted as one of their accomplishments. Instead, they seem to be obsessed with a wild goose chase for a needle in a haystack. You'd have just as much of a chance at finding Earhart by throwing darts at a map of the Pacific as they do with their "scientific" searches.
Then again, I'm clearly preaching to the choir around here.

Well, Happy 115th Birthday Miss Earhart
May you rest in peace, wherever you may be
