I'll gladly eat a big steaming plate of Crow. Then they can start their search for the easter bunny and maybe Susquatch too.

It's not a problem; that's why they call it fishin', not catching !

Hmmmm....can it be that the wagons are beginning to circle?

And the excuse is already being prepared. "Well, since they ripped off all that money, I should HOPE they'd have found something, what's the big deal?"

Funny I haven't heard anybody complain about being "ripped off." Not even me.

I do hope they find something better than an generic piece of aluminum,..it's not Lockheed but it could have been added later...
a piece or mirror...AE was a woman, she used a compact...so it might be hers...
or patent medicine bottle that might be freckle cream...AE had freckles soooo....

Still, they've been looking a long time....and as the old saying goes, "even a broken watch is right twice a day".

And the "R" still stands for Recovery...and they still haven't brought a plane back....any plane, AE's or a BT-13 from Oklahoma....or an abandoned Twin Beech
They've been successful only when compared to government levels of efficiencies.

Police tell us many people don't complain when they've been ripped off, they don't want to be reminded of their gullibility.... :)
It's fine to believe and hope, but there comes a time when you have to look at facts and achievements.

How about..."OH...you were looking for THAT Amelia Earhart. Why didn't you say so?"

Yes, I hope they find her mumified-but-still-recognizable body so they can mount it on a float and give her the ticker tape parade in Manhattan that she never got but so richly deserved. I mean, that's what this is about, right?

I'll wager she gets offered a postion a government panel or committee as an expert on feminism and "women's issues". :D

I would like to see her on the House Financial Services commitee. She would do better than most. John, I know you and I see the situation pretty much the same. I am sure there are some who missed my point. So to put in in more practical terms, suppose The International Group for Historic Aircraft Recovery were to actually fulfill their mandate of Historic Aircraft Recovery? One clear path would be to take a page from Chuck Greenhill and sponsor recovery and restoration of Lake Michigan wrecks. How many could be done for the $2.2 million they are spending on yet another trip to a barren island that holds no secrets? Or if they purely funded recovery, probably a dozen could be recovered and dispersed to museums. The Wildcat at the Pima museum is one of the bigger attractions, because it stands out as a relic in a room full of restored beauties. People learn about the airplane and the mission. Probably some kid gets inspired every week or so and it is a good thing.

So, to answer Muddy's original question, no I won't be embarrased. I will still think it was a complete waste of time and money.
