Naval Aviation Museum Website

Fri Jun 22, 2012 1:28 am

Now, this is how you put together a nice website. Got to the section that lists the aircraft on display and you will find a photo of every plane and a brief description of it's history and how it ended up at the museum (in most cases). There's nothing more frustrating than to go to a museum's website and not be able to find a picture of the actual aircraft that is on display (some only have a file photo or a wartime picture of a similar plane) or any background information about that particular airframe...

Oh yes BUNOs are on the site. Go to the search function
any enter BU2106 for example. And have you seen the new
cockpit views they are adding? Terrific stuff from a terrific
place!

A nicely done website for sure. Owen, are they going to add a restoration page do you know?

That would be a fine question for me to pose. Remind me
Monday. I'm gettin' old. At one time there was talk of
allowing visitors to view some restoration work.

deltascrew,
Aware of that site, think it would be good if it was on the actual museum site.

JOMiller,
If you know the buno that works.

You have to love the SBD-2. Pearl Harbor, New Guinea and Midway (Navy Cross to the pilot/DFC to the gunner, mmmmm yeah the pilot brought her back but with four Zero's chasing them, the gunner should have gotten the Navy Cross as well) and then lost on a training mission. Seeing that one airframe alone would be worth the trip. A Vulcan mind meld to hear her side of the story.
