Just a note for those of you who either have known Linc or read any of his books, Linc passed away this last Thursday morning at his home in Richmond BC.
Linc was a pioneer in the aerial firefighting business and kept notes - LOTS of notes. Most of these were written into one of his several books on the subject, but he was alway there to share his knowledge.
We've lost a partner, a teacher, a story teller,....but most of all, we've lost a friend.

'Fire Bomber into H_ll' is one of my favorite books. It is a must read for anyone who is interested in warbirds that were fire bomber conversions (TBM, F7F, A-26, etc.). Godspeed, Linc.

Sad to hear this. Read his book too, I really enjoyed, especially how he freed that stuck DC-7.

How astonishing: there are two well-known Linc Alexanders in Canada with aviation connections! Our local Member of Parliament for many years (1968-82, or thereabouts--Hamilton West riding) was Lincoln M. "Linc" Alexander, who had served in the RCAF in the 40s. Seeing that name in the subject line I was certain I'd be reading he had passed away; he is in his late 80s so that would not be a surprise...but reading about the passing of an entirely different gent with the same, unusual, name certainly is a surprise!
