Anyone have photos of Merced AAF during WWII?

Looking for aircraft markings...ideally of T-6s.

Thanks!

Merced AAF was a Basic Flight Training base and they flew the Vultee BT-13 / BT-15 series of aircraft. The fuselage code was "E".

I believe they also flew AT-6Ds....according to my grandfather's logbook, all of his advanced/T-6 training was done at Merced AAF in either late '44 or early '45 IIRC.

I just recalled that I have an article that I cut out of a publication entitled "Aerospace Historian", Summer June 1984, pp 107 thru 120. Although the article is entitled 'Castle Air Force Base' the ENTIRE article is about its WW II history. A title of "Merced Army Air Field" would have been more appropriate. Send me a private message (or vossj@comcast.net) with your snail mail address and I'll send you a hard copy.
