There's a fine line between bravery & stupidity, I'm told.

Specially since the pilot has shut down the engine

Yes. Hopefully he'll be able to fire it up again to land!

I will pass on your messages to the pilot at the weekend.

Looks perfectly safe to me. After all, how can you crash into the ground when it is so plainly visible!

What's wrong with shutting the engine down....Bob Hoover does or did things like that all the time and he ain't crazy. Called inertial managment or some such thing.

Well, hate to spoil the comments here, but that definately does NOT look like he has the engine shut down. Looks like a good job of tracking the aircraft with a fast digital (probably SLR) camera. My sister has taken some shots at a nearby aircraft with her Nikon D70 and we can take pictures with the props stopped fairly easily. Can make for some wierd looking photos.

My comment was very much tongue & cheek, I don't for a minute think the engine was not running...the shutter speed was too high hence the stopped prop.

This picture is of the pilot very nearly killing himself, as he was meant to be about 20 ft higher doing a ribbon cut... it's a bloody stupid stunt and he very nearly paid for it with his life.
