Looking for a Vampire

Mon Apr 16, 2012 2:21 pm

I'm wondering if anyone knows the whereabouts of a Swiss Vampire Mk.55, she used to be U-1226.

Cheers,

Thanks Mike, but the Swiss registered one is U-1228.

Last I heard she was in Florida somewhere.

So was this one your dad's Vampire? I did a little digging and came up with this...
ImageAerial Visuals - Airframe Dossier - DH-115 Vampire, s/n U-1226 Swiss AF, c/n 986, c/r N593RH
...I wish I could tell you more. There isn't much there that can't be found elsewhere.

I did a search on "Pegasus Aircraft Parts" and came up with this list...
ImageAerial Visuals - Airframe Search
...if you follow the links you will find that Pegasus has exported a number of airframes to Brazil. The FAA note doesn't indicate this is the case for U-1226, but who can say for sure.

Does anyone know if this Vampire has turned up a Sun & Fun or other events in Florida?

Mike

Wrong Vampire. U-1228 is msn 988 not 986.

Has it gone from the Altenrhein museum ? It was there in 2010, registered HB-RVJ.

I believe Ollie is looking for U-1226/cn 986.

My confusion started with the second link that I posted above (http://www.abpic.co.uk/search.php?q=U-1 ... ode_number) which lists the aircraft as U-1226. The aircraft pictured is actually U-1228/cn 988.

The FAA registration is for U-1226/cn 986 located in Miami.
