Alternate Military N3N colors?

Tue Apr 03, 2012 11:50 am

I have had an inquiry locally about any possible alternate military paint schemes used on the N3N. Any help appreciated. The other question I was asked is more of a long shot, did any N3Ns have nose art?
Thanking you all in advance.

How about USCG?
The N3N from the film North by Northwest is now in USCG colors.

Or perhaps postwar USN...I've seen N3Ns from the 50s, but in their later years, weren't they just used as floatplanes?

A sad day!!!
The last N3N's were taken out of service at Annapolis in 1959, taken over to Norfolk where they sat for 1960. They were taken apart and sold as surplus in 1961.

In what way???? I still don't know what bureau number it is as all my requests have gone un answered. So I can't say it was the last built if that's what your asking. If it were on floats, Well I know 4 that currently operate on water and there are more N owners that have float sets like yagen at the Fighter Factory.
