P-39 / P-63 gunsight - specialist needed

Good day,
Just acquired a C-1 variable gunsight head with range finder for the N-3 serie gunsight. I was told this sight was specific to late P-39 and early P-63 planes. Looked at my E&M manuals but cannot find anyhting.
Does anyone have info or documentation about this sight? Any help much appreciated.

I have the gear box for turning that range dial. When you turn the input, what does it move? This box is for sale, BTW.
