The Warbirds Directory 2008 has details of a former PV-1 that might be this aircraft. Abbreviated information is;

PV-1 Ventura c/n 5854 to RAF, to South African Air Force, shipped to Howard Aero, San Antonio in 1960, rebuilt as a Howard 500, six different N numbers. Last was N65PC, and last seen Ft Lauderdale FL in April 1980 then vanished.

Believed to be the camouflaged Howard 500 operated in Nicaragua by CIA/Contras c84)

That may be the one sample that poss went S. of the border.

There was another sample found in a hangar, somewhere in the midwest being re-built by a couple of PV-1 Folks. It was advertised here on Wix sometime ago.Does anyone know what happened to that restoration project??
