This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Since that video was shot in 2008 I would say that was a US Army helicopter. They operated a few Hinds out of Fort Bliss. I think the Army no longer has any flying now.
The Cold War Air Museum here south of Dallas at the Lancaster Airport (KLNC) that is operating two warbird Hinds.

I asked one of the CWAM guys if there were any other airworthy Hinds in the US and I believe he said six (including their two) that were flown semi regularly.

The last time I saw a Hind in the air, it was buzzing us at JRTC at Ft Polk in 2000...
It
never occured to me there would someday be any flying in civilian hands!

At one time, there was a company in Washington (can't remember the name off-hand) that operates multiple Soviet aircraft on US Government contract only using "Public Use" airworthiness certificates including a quartet of Hinds, but I don't know how active they are now. I do believe their aircraft are all Mi-24V's though.

I saw something fly over my house the other day that was not "normal" I need to start looking up pictures of Russian Helo's because it has a similar paint scheme as the hind but it was not. the Nose was more cargo and less "I'll kill you" looking and was large! Anyone know what might have been flying around Nashville this week?
I think it was a Mi-171. I'm I smoking crack?

Blackwater, or whatever they call themselves now, have Mi-8's/Mi-17's
Could have been a Mi-24A too
