This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Just the thing for a lawn ornament. Your very own F 4!

Interesting. I am surprised that it doesn't say the aircraft must be totally shredded, as have previous disposals of late. I wonder if that's just implied when they say "demilitarized", although you can demil a plane without destroying it. I have hope that this is the case here.
Cheers,
Richard

Looks like 3 ex-Homestead Reserves F-4Ds. Curious location, looks like a range site, but no shell holes apparent in them. They'll probably be bought by one of the Tucson scrap dealers.

That is interesting. We can always hope that's the case with these birds!

Thanks for the ID. Will be a shame if that's what happens to them.

Demil is easy. Save the cockpit, scrap the rest

It always makes me wonder why cockpit collecting isn't as popular in the US as in Europe.

Pulling out a bit and 'just lookin' around' I see just North of E. Nebraska St. and East of Arcadia Ave. in the 4900 block is a place named Aircraft Restoration & Marketing amongst the C-117 airframes I see what appears to be most of two 2 seat F-105's and a bit further South in the yard a mostly intact (it's got engines 2,3,&4 still attached and the fin folded) a SATRATOTANKER. What's the missile laying down behind the one F-4 (the lower green arrow) that's pointing West-ish?

I registered for the site, but didn't see a link or another way to place a bid. How did you?

If you look at the terms of sale, you will see that they must be shredded or made totally unuseable by any means. It really sucks that they would require this, but that's our government for you.

Why flush the tanks, install a new battery, fuel her up, fire her up and fly her home.
What else would you do with it ? Would sure beat shooting touch and gos in the L 4 !

"Selectively" de-mil each one, then bring them home and build yourself a "Johnny Cash Cadillac"!
