This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

I think I see more colored than color there, though. Most of the real color ones are well known.

That's what was referring to, never seen a shiny bare metal Hastings, and it's the details, the chips, dings, streaks, smudges, exhaust stain patterns, hand prints, and ground support stuff is what modellers are looking for. Color or tinted makes no diff because it's all the minitua that matters, like that crusty looking RN H#llcat, or the F4U-1's lined up to be delivered with the spray bomb numbers.

Sort of the way you are treated when you are in your costume?

All it would have taken was more access to KODAK KODACHROME which was not in great supply outside the U.S. or it's military uses, and I'm pretty sure the British had other, more critical needs for the chemicals involved in making color film stock just like B&W U.S. photos from WW2 look a bit 'thin' as silver was needed for other things more critical besides Christmas or Birthday party photos.
Stuff people don't think about because they don't know about them.
The pictures stand as a rarely seen candid peek into how our allies military lives went, and how their equipment was used and cared for, as a modeller, I can mine these for years

Some of them do look colorized but its still a very nice collection. One thing about British designed airplanes. They are either beautiful or just ugly. There seems to be no middle ground with them.
