Wrecks near Guam

Fri Jan 20, 2012 11:12 pm

I'm heading to Guam for a few months for work and would like to take in a little Pacific WWII history while there. I will be traveling with three little kids so I can't get too adventurous, but we do plan to travel around. What should I go see?

There's an early model Corsair on the Orote Point peninsula on the SW region of the island. Its near the Navy base airfield out in the jungle. If you ask around someone is liable to know how to get to it. Not sure how much is left these days.

Thanks for the info. Are there any spots that are accessible while snorkeling? Also what is left of the B-29 wrecks near the air force base?

We tried to get to the 29 wrecks when we were deployed there and the jungle is so thick i that area we gave up. If you talk to the civil engineering section they may give you permission (with an escort) to go onto North Field.
