Looking for photo/info on P-51B 43-24889, 325th FG

Tue Jan 17, 2012 7:03 pm

I've been thinking of posting this for a long time and have tried the 325th Figther Group Association too no avail.
P-51B-15-NA 43-24889 was the aircraft my uncle, Lt. John Fredrick "Fred" Lynch was KIA in while on a mission over Greece with the 325th FG, 317th Fighter Squadron, September 15, 1944. The aircraft number on the side was "32".
I'd like to see if I can locate a photo of the aircraft so that I can have an accurate model made. I don't know if there was any nose art, since he was flying a borrowed aircraft. It has been reported that the aircraft was named "Marlice Jo", and had been assigned to Major Max McNeil, who named it originally. McNeil later became Squadron Commander of the 317th on Sept. 23, 1944.
Any help from the vast talent of the WIX members would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Blue skies,
Jerry

You said you checked with the 325th Assoc., did you mean that you or they looked in "the book"? There is a Checkertails book. Plenty of photos in there.

I've got every book so far, for obvious reasons. Most use Hess' book as the basis for the information.

FYI, I did some research on 43-24889 and it was on the "Frantic"shuttle mission to Russia in June of 1944 so I'm searching for other sources for photos taken in Russia.
